2022 QuIST Colloquium Helps Set Global Stage for Quantum Information Science at UC Davis

Throughout the end of 2022, the College of Engineering funded a series of nine presentations from scholars across the globe and one professional from Google as part of its inaugural Quantum Information Science and Technology, or QuiST, Colloquium. The college recognized the effort as part of its Next Level strategic vision, which uplifts research and education that engineers a better world for all.  

College of Engineering Alumnus Michael Hurlston among 2023 CAAA Awardees

Michael Hurlston, B.S. '88, M.S. '91 in electrical and computer engineering, received the Cal Aggie Alumni Association Outstanding Alumnus Award the organization announced on March 2. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association, or CAAA, honoring the achievements and impact of outstanding alumni and friends of UC Davis. 

UC Davis ECE to Collaborate with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on ARPA-E Project

Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Jeremy Munday and Assistant Professor William Putnam will work in collaboration on a low energy nuclear reaction, or LENR, project with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. The project is being supported by the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy, or ARPA-E, with $1.5 million in funding over two and a half years.

Rodgers and his wife, Valeta, have found the answer—funding interdisciplinary research by establishing a fellowship to support electrical and computer engineering graduate students working on wine research at UC Davis.

Luqi Wang Awarded Quantum Technologies Initiative Scholarship from IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society

Luqi Wang has been awarded a 2022 Quantum Technologies Initiative Scholarship from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Antennas and Propagation Society, or IEEE AP-S. The $5,000 award from the AP-S Graduate Fellowship Program recognizes Wang’s demonstrated promise and interest in engineering electromagnetics with a focus on quantum technologies.  

Graduating Senior Man Yu ’22 – ‘Engineering Changes the World’

As a first-generation college student, Man Yu, a graduating senior in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, or ECE, knew he had to do something incredible to make his family proud.
